As we head into the fall season, many of you are asking about the official release of SQF Edition 10. We wanted to provide a quick update on its status.
Currently, we are still awaiting the official publication of the new standard. While we were initially looking towards an early September release, it appears we may be waiting for the finalized version. Please be assured that once we have the latest update, we will inform our community the moment the updated SQF Edition 10 is released to the public.

What We’ve Heard about SQF Edition 10 Updates So Far?
While we wait for the final document, the SQF Newsletter from August 2025 did provide some valuable insight into the direction of the requirements. According to the newsletter:
Edition 10 strengthens the fundamentals of food safety with updated Core Clauses for areas such as management commitment, allergen control, sanitation, environmental monitoring, and foreign material prevention. These clauses carry more weight in the audit process because they represent the greatest potential risks to food safety and brand trust. Scoring remains a component of the audit, but it now places greater emphasis on the type and severity of nonconformances and requires that all issues be addressed before certification is granted.
Do expect a significant focus on foundational food safety principles and a stricter approach to audit non-conformances.
Webinar Postponement
In light of the delayed release, we will be postponing our SQF Edition 10 Key Updates webinar. Please note that this is not an official SQF training. Our goal is to provide our client and community with accurate, actionable information based on the final, official standard. We will announce a new date as soon as possible.
New Tools to Support Your SQF Ed.9 Transition
We are using this time to prepare two powerful resources to help food manufacturers transition to the new standard smoothly and efficiently.
If you are an SQF site or planning to be, not to worry. There will be enough time for the transition from Ed . 9 to Ed. 10. For our clients, support is being planned (just waiting for the Ed . 10 release to implement the plan).
Or if you prefer, SQF is planning for the SQF Ed . 9 to Ed . 10 course, and the SQF Ed . 10 course will be available to support you as well. We’ll share these options in our newsletter.
